Using Fung Shui to Create more Wealth in your Life
Using Fung Shui to Create more Wealth in your Life Using simple Feng Shui tips to create more Wealth and Career success in your life Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Shway) is the Chinese Art of Placement that has been practiced for over three thousand years in China with the belief that positioning oneâs things released vital energy, or Châi, that would create a harmonious flow in human life. Iâve had an interest in Feng Shui for about 15 years. I try to use some of the tips when I remember to (which isnât all the time, I admit). I know that some things really have worked. A few little changes here, a major one there, and I could truly tell a difference in the energy around that area. Here are a few things to remember: The water element is a strong force in activating career luck. However, do not worry if you cannot act upon every tip. More is not always better. Balance if vital. Sometimes just energizing one method or activating one direction can be sufficient. When you find yourself becoming very busy, it is a good indicator that your Feng Shui is working. The direction Southeast is considered the corner of the home or office that represents wealth. If this corner has good Feng Shui, then the wealth aspirations have been actively energized. If it the corner is bad, it may lead to loss and failure in business. It is vital to remove any negative energy from the southeast corner of your home or office. Only keep healthy thriving things there. If there is something old, stale, or give you bad memories/vibes, GET RID OF IT. To create good energy, you need to apply the theory of the 5 elements: fire, wood, water, metal and earth. Here are some simple tips you can try: Placing a plant in the southeast would be excellent wealth Feng Shui, symbolizing wood (avoid pants with thorns or spines, like cacti or bonsai, as they are thought to be inauspicious). Wealth and prosperity colors include blues, reds and purples. The number â9â is said to be enormously auspicious because it represents heaven and earth. Place a mock money bag containing a $10.00 bill in a rice urn. It is supposed to enhance family wealth. Keep an aquarium with goldfish, or a small artificial waterfall in the garden to activate the water element. Add any valuable possessions to your wealth area including collections, antiques, art, coins, crystal, etc. Chinese coins are believed to be an auspicious tool in attracting wealth and luck. Place three Chinese coins (or any type of coin will do) tied together with a red ribbon in your wallet or change purse and you will see your wealth luck changing. The coins can also be hung on the doorknob, facing the room. Brighten southeastern walls and corners to attract wealth. To ensure productivity and activation of your wealth area, get rid of dark rooms. Dim lighting increases uneasiness. It doesnât have to be a gaudy display of everything at once. You can place these things on either floor of your homeâ"1st floor, 2nd floor or basement will work, too. For example, on my first floor, I have a small shelf in the corner with three coins tied with a red ribbon and two thriving plants. On my 2nd floor which also happens to be my bedroom, I have a plant and a couple of red candles with holders, representing the color of prosperity. You can really have fun and be creative with it. According to Chinese traditions, these are some simple and fun ways to increase your wealth and prosperity. However, Iâve only listed a few. To get more ideas and Feng Shui tips, I would suggest doing an online search and buying a few books. Feng Shui also works for every other area in your life to create balance, harmony, love, and prosperity in your environment. Erin Kennedy, CPRW https://www.proreswriters.com

#LeanInTogether How Men Can Help Women Get Ahead at Work
#LeanInTogether How Men Can Help Women Get Ahead at Work Supporting women in the workplace is just a decent thing for men to do. But thereâs also a selfish reason for men to care: Helping a woman get ahead on the job can help your career, too. Thatâs the message from #LeanInTogether, a new campaign from Sheryl Sandbergâs womenâs career empowerment organization LeanIn.org. Coming on the second anniversary of the launch of Sandbergâs Lean In initiative, the campaign makes the case that changing womenâs roles in the workplace canât happen without a change in behavior from their male colleagues and partners. #LeaninTogether kicked off this week with PSAs from NBA and WNBA stars on ESPN (which has mostly male viewership) and an editorial in The New York Times. âFrom stronger marriages and healthier, happier children to better outcomes at work, the benefits of men leaning in for equality are huge,â Facebook COO Sandberg and Wharton Professor Adam Grant wrote in the Times. So, guys, are you ready to lean in together? These are the five best ways to be advocates for womenâ"and indirectly, yourselvesâ"in the workplace. 1. Be a Mentor. Women often seek out other women as mentors. But research shows that women who also have male mentors get more promotions and make more money than those who have only female advisors. A study of MBAs by Harvard Business School found having a mentor raised a manâs salary an average $9,260 vs. just $661 for women. Thatâs because the mentors for men tend to be male and higher up the corporate ladder (where there are fewer women) than womenâs mentors, who are more likely to be female. Offering to mentor an up-and-comer has some kickback for you as well: âMentoring is a great way to identify future leaders, which can raise your profile,â says Anna Beninger from Catalyst, a nonprofit that works to expand opportunities for women in business. 2. Be an Advocate. Look for ways for female employees to be better seen, heard and recognized, says Kathy Caprino, who runs a womenâs career success and leadership coaching business. For example, if you see female colleagues get interrupted in meetings, interject and say youâd like to hear them finish. Openly ask women to contribute to the conversation. If you manage a team with women, give them chances to lead, present projects and manage others. Women are less likely to toot their own horns, so help make sure your colleagues get the credit they deserve. So look for opportunities to acknowledge women when their ideas are implemented, both publicly and to higher ups. When you introduce female coworkers, emphasize their accomplishments. 3. Recruit women. Hiring women can be a good thing for your company. One study found that start-ups that had more women on staff have greater odds of success. For start-ups with five or more females, 61% were successful and only 39% failed. But know that some of the most promising candidates wonât come to you: Men will apply for jobs when they meet 60% of the hiring criteria while women wait until they meet 100%. So go after them, finding qualified candidates using LinkedIn and references. Also when you see a job listing you think would be a slam dunk for one of your former colleagues, send it to her. She might not otherwise think of herself for it. Consider it good karma. 4. Promote women. Make sure youâre helping to give the women who are already a part of your organization an opportunity to rise. When it comes to performance reviews, be specific about what constitutes top performance so that both men and women equally know what to do to get ahead. Also get to know your female employeesâ ambitions and make clear to them what they need to accomplish to get to the next step. When you think a woman is ready for the next step and youâre not in control of the promotion process, tell her manager. Tell her, too, so that she can advocate for herself. And push back when she says sheâs ânot readyâ or ânot qualifiedâ for an opportunityâ"or when others say that about her. 5. Share the office housework. Changing gender stereotypes about duties isnât just for the home front. Women often take on more âoffice houseworkââ"things like taking notes at a meeting, organizing the office parties and training new hires. Those tasks steal valuable time away from core responsibilities and can keep a female colleague from participating fully, says Sandberg. âThe person taking diligent notes in the meeting almost never makes the killer point,â she writes on the LeanInTogether website. Two-thirds of women in Fortune 200 companies are in support roles, but line roles with profit-and-loss responsibility more often lead to senior leadership positions. Donât fall into the trap of expecting women to take on stereotypical support roles like note taker. Raise your own hand. Not only will you make sure that a woman doesnât get held back, but you may find yourself having new opportunities to collaborate with different coworkers and develop new skills. Above all, understand that your actions can help set the tone for other men in the office. Be aware of your subtle biases when it comes to gender. You may not realize it about yourself â" or others who work with you. âWalk the talk, be a role model,â says Caprino. Womens Artwork Sells for Just Half as Much as Mens Work
Womens Artwork Sells for Just Half as Much as Mens Work A recent analysis of auction data from 1.5 1000000 auction transactions in 45 countries between 1970 and 2013, representing works by 62,665 artists, suggests that the perception of artists genders consistently influences the value of their art.Researchers at the University of Luxembourg asked thousands of participants to rank works of art, and the results show a consistent bias. They did this via two experiments. In the first experiment, they asked 1,000 respondents to guess the genders of the artists behind unlabeled works and then rank how much they liked the work. The second experiment asked 2,000 participants to rank artworks generated by the DeepArt algorithm that had been arbitrarily attributed fictional creators half male and half female.Respondents ranked works they believed to have been created by female artists lower than those thought to be made by male artists even when the works were generated by an artificial int elligence. Affluent male respondents who frequently visited galleries tended to rank works they believed to be by male artists higher. The study also found that art by women typically sells for about $25,262 on average, which is just 47.6 percent of the price male artists typically sell for at auctions, which is about $48,212.Both experiments provide evidence that participants who are mora likely to represent typical art auction participants potentially value art by women less, the researchers conclude. This perpetuates the industrys gender pay gap.The results of this study deliver proof for the disadvantages women face in the art world solely based on their gender, Professor saga Kraussl of the Luxembourg School of Finance, one of the studys authors, said in a statement. Male buyers are a driving force of the auction market and yet we see that they are also more likely to think that womens art is inferior. Our research adds to the mounting evidence of discrimination towards women t hat is systemic to so many industries. The researchers do note that the prospects for women artists seem to be better in countries with less gender inequality, as the discount is higher in countries with greater gender inequality. Besides, the latest executive directors in the Denver metro area are female. Just Theres only one woman included in the top 10 living artists based on total value of secondary market sales (2011 to 2016), and there are no womenamong the highest-selling individual lots for living artists for the same time period. The fact is thatmuseums and galleries arent giving female artists shows or featuring them nearly as much as men. As a result, their collections are undervalued. And becausemen still control most of the wealth, andbecause their collectionsoften reflect themselves, mens artwork is consistently ranked higher than womens artwork. Its up to collectors, then, to dictate how our culture is represented in the art world the more they collect womens artwork , the more its exhibited and the more its valued. While gender inequality is a serious policy concern, it is often challenging to argue that economic outcomes for women are a product of culture, not biology, the studys conclusion reads. Using the market for art, we highlight the importance of continuing to eliminate gender inequality.--AnnaMarie Houlis is a multimedia journalist and an adventure aficionado with a keen cultural curiosity and an affinity for solotravel.
